The Girls Leadership Institute
Girls Leadership teaches girls the skills to know who they are, what they believe, and how to express it, empowering them to create change in their world. GL works with girls, parents and caregivers, and educators to ensure lasting impact.
The Girls Leadership Institute inspires girls to be true to themselves. It teaches the practices of emotional intelligence, assertive self-expression and healthy relationships, giving girls the skills and confidence to live as leaders.
A society where girls and women engage authentically and assertively at every level of decision making in all areas of their lives.
GL structures work around five central values: Inclusivity, authenticity, integrity, quality, and fun!
WHAT MAKES GLI UNIQUE?
1) GL works not only with girls, but also with their primary influencers – parents, teachers, and caregivers – to create sustainable impact. Studies show parents and teachers to be the most powerful teachers for girls all the way through high school.
2) GL puts social and emotional learning (SEL) at the foundation of all our leadership development.
3) GL sees girls’ real-life, every-day relationships with friends and family as the primary opportunity to teach girls the leadership skills that will serve them over a life-time: self-advocacy, negotiation, compromise, personal responsibility and conflict as an opportunity for change.
GL's renowned residential summer program is held at Mt. Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, and our workshops and parent education talks take place across California, Colorado, New Jersey and New York. With our growing library of online resources, we hope to expand our work across geographic, class, and racial boundaries to impact as many girls as possible.
